Spek Gauges — Design portfolio of Parker Kuncl

Award-winning SEMA Product-of-the-Year, featured on SPEED and Youtube, adopted by NASCAR, acquired by the #1 market leader.

The spek brand of aftermarket gauges was designed as analog gauges visually but technically operate as digital gauges. This combination has allowed for new paradigms in how gauges can be used in everything from race cars to modified consumer dashboards.

My role

I was responsible for branding, UX, UI, some CMF & industrial design input across the entire family of ~30 gauges.

Awards, NASCAR adoption, and exit

In 2007, spek gauges won SEMA's "Best Performance Product of the Year" at the 2007 SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas. By 2013 over half of NASCAR race teams adopted them in their vehicles. A couple of years later Autometer, who was the market leader (spek’s top competitor) at the time, acquired spek gauges from Pro Parts.
